Vinpocetine is a periwinkle plant extract that has dramatic effects upon the brain.
Vinpocetine

3.   increases
ATP production in the brain
4.  increases
the turnover of the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and serotonin
5.
improves ear problems including tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and vertigo (dizziness).
6.
slows lipofuscin pigment deposit in the brain
7.  improves vision
8.  increases blood flow to damaged areas of the brain in stroke victims

Vinpocetine is also known to be an antioxidant and may protect the brain from aging.  There are no known side effects, toxicity or contraindications at doses up to 30mg daily..

"The ability of vinpocetine to improve the cerebral cortical activating power of remaining LC neurons makes it a true cognition enhancing agent."
H. Olpe et al, "Locus Coeruleus as a target for psycho-geriatric agents"
Ann. NY Acad. Sci. 444, 1985, 399-405.

"There's no question that my tinnitus has subsided whilst using the vinpocetine, but it's more than that I do feel better."
