NOOTROPICS

Nootropic means "acting on the mind", It is a term
given to the first substance found to have beneficial effects in the treatment
of memory loss, age related memory decline, lack of concentration, etc. That
substance was piracetam (Nootropil®). Not only
was it beneficial, but it was also found to have so few side effects that one biochemist described it "as safe as salt!"

The current available list of nootropics comprises of:
ANIRACETAM (Draganon®)
Aniracetam improves memory recall, reaction and detail. Like all of
piracetam's analogues it is more potent. In tests aniracetam has proven to be one of the most potent nootropics currently
available because of its ability to protect AMPA brain receptors and nerve
cells. Normal doses are considered to be one or two tablets (750mg each) per day
(see notes at base of Nootropic section).

OXIRACETAM (Neuromet®)
Oxiracetam, is the closet derivative of piracetam and is used in the industry as the
nootropic standard (in other words, when new Nootropics are designed they are
compared to oxiracetam). Like all the analogues Oxiracetam is more potent mg
dose / Kg bodyweight when compared to Piracetam.
Oxiracetam doses are 1 tablet (800mg each) twice daily (see notes at base of
Nootropic section).

PIRACETAM
This is the piracetam developed by the UCB company and branded Nootropil®. IAS
believes that this product remains the best quality piracetam on a market now
infiltrated with generics.
Usual starting doses are considered "attack" at two tablets (1200mg
each) twice a day, lowering to one tablet twice a day after a month (see notes
at base of Nootropic section).

PRAMIRACETAM (NeuPramir®)
Recent clinical trials would indicate that pramiracetam might be the most potent
piracetam analogue. One clinical trial described optimum piracetam dosages at 100mg per Kg body
weight, whereas pramiracetam was 15mg/ Kg body weight, effectively up to 7 times
stronger. Regular doses of pramiracetam are one tablet (600mg each) once or
twice daily (see notes at base of Nootropic section).

- Remember that all Nootropics are synergistic with each other and with other brain nutrition products, (for example, choline, DMAE, Hydergine, Lucidril etc). When combining these products the individual doses may have to be reduced in order to avoid possible side effects of nausea and headaches.
